چکیده

One reference to the transplantation of an adrenal cortical tumor of the mouse has been found in the literature. Dalton, Edwards, and Andervont (1) reported on a spontaneous, transplantable, adrenal cortical tumor in a female strain C mouse 24 89 months of age. They presented evidence that this neoplasm originated from relatively undifferentiated cells of the adrenal cortex. The failure to find metastases from the original growth or the transplanted tumors suggested that the neoplasm was relatively benign in character. However, the rapid growth rate attained in later generations plus invasion of the capsule indicated a certain degree of malignancy. Careful examination for gross and histologic changes, particularly in the urogenital system and adrenal glands, was made. In female hosts focal edema was noted in the deeper layers 9f the endometrial stroma of the uterus; no changes were noted in the genital system of male hosts.

Background: Adrenal cortical carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor which presents mainly in late adulthood with an equal age distribution. The tumor is usually functionally active. Case report: The present study reports two 11-month-old female infants with abdominal mass and virilysm who underwent radical nephrectomy. The final diagnosis was adrenal cortical carcinoma with regional lymph node...

Nonfunctional Adrenocortical Carcinoma with Foci of Osseous Metaplasia in a Young Girl

Nonfunctional adrenocortical carcinoma is an extremely rare malignant tumor in children. Unlike the functional tumor which is detected early due to its hormonal presentation, nonfunctional tumor is detected at a later stage. Here we report a case of a 10 year old girl who presented with abdominal mass and symptoms of short duration. No hypertension and cushingoid features were seen. Serum alpha...

Adrenocortical Carcinoma Mimicking Pheochromocytoma: A case Report and Review of Literature

Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is an uncommon malignancy originating from cortex of adrenal gland. The most common pitfall in diagnosis of ACC is to distinguish it from pheochromocytoma. Here we report a 62-year-old hypertensive man with presentation of dyspnea. The laboratory data showed an increase in urine cortisol and renin with a mild increase in aldosterone, but decrease in adrenocorticot...

Neural Transplantation as a Strategy for Recovery of CNS Functions

Transplants of neural tissue have been used for nearly 100 years in order to clarify the mechanisms that underlie development and regeneration of the nervous system. With reports from Sweden and Mexico that autografts of adrenal medulla produce at least transient and perhaps dramatic improvement in patients severly disabled by Parkinson's disease, the techniques of neural transplantation have ...

Adrenocortical Oncocytic Carcinoma and Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Incidentally Detected in an Asymptomatic Patient by F-18 FDG PET/CT

F-18 FDG is the most widely used tracer in molecular imaging and it is applied for many purposes mainly in malignant diseases. Incidental finding are common in FDG-PET/CT imaging and includes benign and malignant lesions. Among the rare tumors , adrenal oncocytomas are uncommon findings and incidental findings of thyroid malignancies are not rare. Oncocytoma is a rare adrenocortical tumor and m...
